A novel citizen science process started

Join the Talking Buildings world! The SINCERE's public engagement process has been initiated in different places on the ground, and online on Facebook (in greek), youtube, instagram, and tit tok. We are just starting but it has become already clear during the European Heritage Days 2024 that giving a voice to a building is a very rewarding experience both for those that give the voice and those that listen to it.

Highlights

Meet our new pilot site in Malta

The new SINCERE's pilot site is a government-owned structure constructed before World War II and used as a coastal artillery searchlight post. It consists of a stone masonry building with distinctive reinforced concrete features. The scientific studies, under the aegis of Prof. Ruben Paul Borg from the Faculty of Built Environment at the University of Malta, include documentation and the appraisal of the building and the assessment of materials and structure, towards its conservation. Its popular name is "Daughter of the Wind" and our guide Dr. Steve Borg impersonates it very beautifully!

Meet the SINCERE innovations

There is intense work at ACCIONA's demo site, the Algete pilot, applying the different SINCERE mortars to three of the experimental mock-ups to be compared with the reference mock-up. Additionally, the radiative cooling paint is applied on one of the mock-up roofs to be compared with the reference paint and also two semi-transparent BIVPs, which complete the SINCERE set of sustainable renovation technologies. Now the performance of the different mock-ups will be monitored over time and we will find out the difference between the lab and the real-world.
