SINCERE workshop

Ostrava, 21-22 April 2026

The first day involved consortium partners reporting on the progress of the complex SINCERE project, which works towards resilient and adaptive renovation towards net-zero carbon heritage buildings, bridging material development and testing at pilot sites through implementation and sensor monitoring, and the use of digital technologies such as H-BIM and D-TWINs.

The second day included talks from local Ostrava stakeholders detailing development plans for the new Museum + within a former blast furnace, with the opportunity to visit the impressive structure, anticipating its future implementation. The second part of the event was a dynamic workshop featuring an interactive round table discussion on five key themes linked to the SINCERE interventions: Novel materials and authenticity; Heritage values versus development pressures and novel materials; Integrating local communities, participatory approaches and creating local stewardship; Adaptive reuse and limits of change; and digital technologies and effectiveness. The resulting dynamic discussions and conclusions, drawing on diverse professional perspectives, produced very valuable outputs on these critical issues.
